Ge' ne Clem Photography "To conjure the Classic"

Recently, I've had the brilliant opportunity of sharing information and conversation with Mr. Ge'ne Clem, Ge'ne is originally from Trinidad and Tobago; while attending school in Trinidad at (Vessigny Secondary School) he was taught the beauty of color through a vast number of mediums. Soon this information would lend balance and grace to his work in so many ways. This work will transform  him into the man he is today, from the accidental Hairstylist in Trinidad to the self actualized  "Ge'ne Clem Photographer." As I said Clem started out as a hairdresser in Triny' and soon moved to Brooklyn, New York. He spent 20 plus years working as a hairstylist;   he was owner of "Trenz Hair Salon" but in 2007, Clem retired from the business and moved to Atlanta. In late fall of 2009, Ge'ne decided to take his retirement seriously by looking into a passion of his, Photography. Ge'ne was fortunate to become close friends with "Stephe

Noret Bazemore of " Bella Latina Cakes"

What can I say, have you ever had an emotional attachment to food? I mean one of those," look at that!" -- "you can't eat that it is too pretty!"  type of food attachment.  This is  how I have come to see the cakes made by one of Freeport, Long Island NY's premier cake designers; Noret Bazemore of "Bella Latina Cakes." She has been seriously baking since 2003, however she had a  two year stint away from her art from 2006 to 2008. Mamacita Noret, comes from a long line of bakers she is now the fourth generation " baby dassa'  whole latta' sugar knowledge."   The name was sort of an accident in truth it connects her to her culture, she chose to brandish herself on Facebook as  "Noret Caking-Mamacita Bazmore," because she wanted to be original-clever-catchy... the other page name connects her culturally as well "Bella Latina Cakes;" when contacting her to create one of her awesome delectable delights

Calling Mr. Chuck Beattie, Calling "Dr. Blues"

How do I write about a man who has been so instrumental to my personal development in regards to  loving, singing and performing the Blues: I Just start! Around May, 2002 I arrived in Asheville, North Carolina. It was here that I was asked by one of my old band mate's Chad Hildebran to join him at an open mic night in Weaverville; It was this night that I met  a most wonderful and  kindred spirit, Mr. Chuck Beattie. He called me out of my shell and onto the stage and a long lasting friendship was born.  Shortly after our encounter and becoming fast friends " Dr. Blues" was invited to perform at England's "Bury Blues Festival" 2003. The experience was altogether "emotional and humbling" this highlight in his career took him back to another fulfilling and emotional time, the relationship with his brother Gerald. At a young age Chuck and Gerald where taught the rudiments of drumming and by their early teens they had formed a band: The V

Mark Appleford The Bard of Asheville

Hello Everybody, I am proud and happy to present "Mark Appleford" as one of the guest's we will have on the "IC." Let me tell you a little about Mark, he is a wonderful Singer Songwriter whom I had the privilege of working with in a band called "Yer Dawg" in 2005, this was a short lived experience but gratifying none the less. Mark's sound is an effusion, bridging him with the likes of  Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Wilco, and The Replacements. He is a Singer/ Songwriter/ Guitarist/and Harmonica player; born in the town that helped put "American music" on the map "Detroit." Mark's songs can sometimes remind you of the opening to one of your favorite "Coen Brother's movie" then other times you get whisked away to a club in New Orleans with a band playing sweet sounds as you dance the night away to this "tasty yet raspy" voice crooning everything from down home blues to originals. Mark is no
