Pitfalls of working from home no one talks about!
There is something that happens with people that work from home, all of your home issues plus your work issues collied.
This is something most companies don't take into consideration, if you hire people based on a certain skill set one of those things needs to be how well they manage their home life, work life and how well you the company listens to their issues,( special attention and assistance needs to be given to people who are not permanent workers in your company.)
Life/ Death/ Illness, Divorce/ Abuse, these are major life events, if you aren't trained to see or hear the subtle markers if any of these life events pop up, you have no real reference as to the mental health of your agent, long term or seasonal!
If your companies motto is : "we protect "our" agents!" and this is said to a person who is a seasonal agent, in a confrontational manner, as if to say: you aren't allowed to criticize what we do or how we do it, and if you do, its "us" against you...
Another phenomenon is if a person worked in another "LOB" as a seasonal agent, and people within your (NEW) training decide to judge them against previous performance, your managers have actively shown the motto " we protect "our" agents," in fact means we protect our permanent agents, we are not invested in you, therefore giving you any kind of grace is off the table, you can not give us constructive criticism, and anything you say against us will in turn put us on a witch hunt for any mistake you have ever made regardless of your then circumstance!
I depict a downturn in WFH situations soon if this persists. Basic human rights and understanding should be given to people no matter what their tenure is. Positions need to be labeled as "Seasonal," and no one should ever use any kind of ( this can turn into a permanent position if you...) you are setting the tone of what are you willing to do to be part of the team.
I think all companies from B&M to WFM have these issues, B&M just has more practice and more visual references that help them asses situations that could end up being very messy and costly for the company down the line!
