In 1922 a nurse who goes by the name of Rene Caisse came across the recipe because a patient of heres seemed miraculously healed from breast cancer and noted the Ojibwa formula for her recovery.
It has gone by both Ojibwa healing tea and Essiac tea, however the marvel of it has come across our feeds again, I was using this on healing formula's for my clients who had everything form High Blood pressure to assisting in Diabetic blood balancing and recovery.
This a a four component tea, to keep with tradition I would not step away from its original recipe unless you in fact are allergic to any one or more of the ingredients. Below I will list the plants and what they look like, I will also put how to make the tea and how to use it! It has been 22 years now I have given this recipe to various people who were looking for healing and balancing of the blood.
First up is Sheep Sorrel a wonderful healing herb native to Eurasia and the British Isles.( was introduced to the North and prairie lands and is known as an invasive herb) The herbs scientific name is Rumex acetosella. This herb may help with the immune system and lesson the effects of cancerous cells. The antioxidants in Sheep Sorell assist with diabetes and other problems with they adrenal system. The other notes in the healing properties of this herb are it being a cooling diuretic, as well as a laxative, it also helps with mucus production( the tanis in Sheep Sorrel helps to lesson the over production of mucus.)
Next up Slippery Elm, I love this for many other healing combinations, however in this mixture it works wonders. Slippery Elm also known as Ulmus Rubra, is actually a Bark from a North American Tree, which has been used for centuries for it healing properties, Slippery Elm, is great for soothing soar throats, and creating a mucilage barrier around the affected area sort of like a bandage for the throat. You can count on this herb for Skin health, upper respiratory health and Detoxification.
This lovely is known as Turkey Rubarb, some people call it Indian Rubarb. The benefits of this herbs are mainly laxative. Quickly cleansing the bowels, it also have anit-inflammatory properties, the use on this one should be closely as follows and I would say 10 days on and 3 weeks off. However some people have zero problems using a little longer I would say speak with your Holistic practitioner and family Doctor before, after and during its use.
This one got me when I learned about Chinese medicine, Lovely, Lovely Burdock Root. This root has multiple healing properties however the main one is assisting with beautiful clear skin. This herb has been known as a natural diuretic, and yes I know it will dry you out, so drink plenty of water, however, I am almost certain it is the dry nature of this herb that makes it efficient in removing toxins in the body! Burdock root is full of antioxidants, which can assist in the clearin healing and shrinking of Cancerous cells.
In order to make this tea use 2 cups of each herb mix well and put aside. Make sure you have 2 gallons of Distilled water and or Spring water.
2 cups of Burdock root
2 cups of Turkey Rubarb
2 cups of Slippery Elm
2 cups of Sheep Sorrel
2 Gallons of Distilled water or Spring water
In a 2 gallon glass or stainless steel pot bring one gallon of water to a boil. Once the water has been brought to a full boil, add one cup of the mixture and make sure you have mixed it well before hand. set aside the mixture for 30 minutes letting the herbs steep, after 30 minutes bring to a slow boil again and ad half a gallon of water from the second gallon. After about 2 hours add the second part of the other gallon and again pull the mixture off the heat and let is sit overnight covered.
Now, this is going to be a very potent mixture and should fit well in 2 medium sized mason jars, make sure you have sterialized them well, bring the mixture to a slow boil for another 10 minutes. Once done, remove from the heat and add to the mason jars and place the lids on top loosely, once cooled you can tighten the jar and put in the refrigerator.
each day on an empty stomach take 2 to 4 oz of the tea, you can add it to hot water or just take a shot, but make sure you have not eaten anything. This allows the mixture to move through and absorb in the body quickly. after about 20 minutes drink 8oz of water and fully break your fast.
As with all herbal medication, consult your family physician and ask them if you are taking medications if this mixture will cause adverse effects with any of them.
Until next time stay healthy, and love well and be as joyful as you can!
